The Elephant Conservation Camp

The Elephant Conservation Camp is designed for children to understand about the importance of protecting and conserving the elephants in our country.  This 3 days 2 nights camp is a collaboration with the National Elephant Conservation Center located in Kuala Gandah, Pahang and is suited for children 10 years old and above.  During the camps, children will have hands-on experience on elephant husbandry, learning the ins and outs of caring, protecting, conserving and preserving these elephants.

The objectives of this project are:

  1. To learn the concept of elephant conservation and the importance of it.
  2. To have hands-on experience on animal husbandry, learning to care, protect, conserve and preserve the elephants
  3. To learn more about Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary, their workscope, philosophy and volunteering work with the center

Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary is located at Kuala Gandah, Pahang, about 1.5 hour’s drive from KL city center.

    9.00am                  : Meet up at Bandar Utama*

    9.30 – 11.30am      : Depart to National Elephant Kuala Gandah

    11.30 – 12.30pm    : Arrival + Check in

    12.30 – 1.30pm      : Lunch    

    1.30 – 3.00pm        : Elephant studies

    3.00 – 6.00pm        : Visit to Orang Asli village

    6.00 – 7.00pm        : Shower + rest time

    7.00 – 8.00pm        : Dinner

    8.00 – 9.30pm        : Night walk expedition

    9.30pm                  : Bed time

    Day 2, 9th June ’21

    6.00 – 7.00am    : Wake up + Morning workout

    7.00 – 8.00am    : Breakfast + Rest

    8.00 – 12.30am  : Elephant husbandry

    12.30 – 1.30pm  : Lunch + Rest

    2.00 – 4.00pm    : Elephant husbandry

    4.00 – 6.00pm    : Elephant tour guide training

    6.00 – 7.00pm    : Shower + rest

    7.00 – 8.00pm    : Dinner

    8.00 – 9.30pm    : Campfire + Games

    9.30pm              : Bed time

    Day 3, 10th June ’21

    6.00 – 7.00am       : Wake up + Morning workout

    7.00 – 8.00am       : Breakfast

    8.00 – 10.00am     : Jungle trekking

    10.00 – 11.00am   : Elephant education program to the tourist conducted by the kids

    11.00 – 12.00pm   : Shower + Pack up

    12.00 – 1.30pm     : Debriefing + Lunch

    1.30 – 3.30pm       : Depart to Bukit Utama 1 Condominium

    Note: Children to wear sports attire on their trips to the Elephant Sanctuary

    The children will be sleeping in dormitory rooms with around 12 kids to a room .  There are beds and beddings provided for each child. Separate dorms for male and female.  Children will be provided 3 meals a day and there will be plenty of snacks provided in case children get hungry. 

    The Conservation Camp is an important program that we truly believe in.  We want our children to understand the significant importance of protecting and conserving our environment, the correlation between humans and the natural environment, the current issues that are happening and the impact that it can bring to us in the near future.  We would like to empower our children in playing their part to preserve and safe keep our nature and its surroundings for the sake of our future generations.
