The Elephant Conservation Project
The Elephant Conservation Project is part of the Conservation Program that is designed for children to understand about the importance of protecting and conserving the elephants in our country. This 5 weeks project is a collaboration with the National Elephant Conservation Center located in Kuala Gandah, Pahang and is suited for children 10 years old and above. During the 5 weeks, children will have hands-on experience on elephant husbandry, learning the ins and outs of caring, protecting, conserving and preserving these elephants. The children will also be doing a funding project to raise funds for the Elephant Sanctuary.
The objectives of this project are:
- To learn the concept of elephant conservation and the importance of it.
- To have hands-on experience on animal husbandry, learning to care, protect, conserve and preserve the elephants
- To learn more about Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary, their workscope, philosophy and volunteering work with the center
- To learn about raising funds and charity work for the center.
Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary is located at Kuala Gandah, Pahang, about 1.5 hour’s drive from KL city center. Classes are every Saturday and during these 5 weeks, children will be transported to the Sanctuary for 4 Saturdays with 1 Saturday they will be learning to raise fund for the Sanctuary at a flea market in Klang Valley.
