Fungi are nature’s recyclers, breaking down organic matter and supporting ecosystems. This month, kids will go on a fungi identification adventure, learning about different species and their roles in decomposing material and providing nutrients for plants. They’ll also discover how fungi are used in medicine and food, showing the many ways these organisms benefit humans and the environment. This hands-on exploration connects kids to the hidden yet vital world of fungi.

The objectives of this program are as follows:

1. Encourage children to engage, explore, experiment, analyze, and experience the process.
2. Encourage children the ability to build and develop their critical thinking skills, where they would need to learn to make decisions and problem solve.
3. Encourage children to appreciate and show respect for the environment.
