Soil erosion is a silent destroyer of mountain ecosystems, washing away fertile land and destabilizing slopes. This month, kids will focus on ways to combat this issue. They’ll learn how planting native grasses and trees can prevent erosion and protect mountain habitats. During the main activity, kids will build small erosion barriers using rocks and sticks to slow water flow and secure soil. They’ll also explore the impacts of erosion on biodiversity, connecting the issue to landslides and habitat loss. This hands-on effort not only teaches them the importance of soil health but also gives them tools to make a real-world impact on local landscapes.

The objectives of this program are as follows:

1. Encourage children to engage, explore, experiment, analyze, and experience the process.
2. Encourage children the ability to build and develop their critical thinking skills, where they would need to learn to make decisions and problem solve.
3. Encourage children to appreciate and show respect for the environment.
4. Build up environmental knowledge
